A Lesser Form of History?

More moaning about "Wolf Hall", really. There is benefit to history turned fiction, because the names walk and talk and breathe and feel. But the slow pace of real events is a burden for readers, and methinks Mantel held back the full depths of her research to keep things from getting even slower.

A non-fiction version of the same events would have been the same length, but with more information. Would I have enjoyed that more?
