Booker Prize Blues

Book Group is reading Julian Barnes' "The Sense of an Ending" as part of a series of Booker shortlisters. It's reminded me of John Banville's "The Sea" - protagonists are retired men of comfortable means writhing in their regrets.

Nothing is forbidden in fiction, I don't think. Just surprised that stories of middle class male mopes get nominated for prizes. A reflection on the judges?
